Do you want to take a more active role in the Vermont ATD Community?  Our chapter thrives with a variety of contributors who enable us to offer a number of opportunities for our members to engage with each other, as well as grow professionally.

The following positions are elected by membership each year

President-elect

Position Title

Chapter President-Elect / President / Past-President

Position Summary

  • Plan and lead chapter board meetings each month

  • Assign and/or handle various chapter administrative tasks to assure chapter maintains sound fiscal and operational practices

  • Confirm CARE assignments and tasks remain on track for each calendar year

  • Confirm board members are enabled to successfully perform their roles

  • Liaise with ATD CRM and NAC on behalf of the chapter

  • Attend monthly NAC meetings

  • Provide guidance and support on best practices on chapter activities and tasks


Time Commitment each month with tasks to accomplish

Term: 3 years (one year in each role: President Elect – President – Past President) 

Estimated time per month:

  • Plan monthly chapter meetings and work assignments (60-90 minutes)

  • Lead monthly board meetings 90 minutes (plus travel when needed)

  • Attend monthly NAC meeting (60 minutes)

  • Various other tasks as requested / attending chapter activities (60-120 minutes)


Treasurer

Position Title

Treasurer

Position Summary


The chapter treasurer manages the operational finances of the chapter. They coordinate the budget and financial transactions with other board members, and vendors. They assure that chapter financial practices are in compliance.


Time Commitment each month with tasks to accomplish


Term: Two years 


Estimated Time Requirements per month: Attending board meetings: 1.5 hours plus travel time Conducting internal Audit with committee: 8 hours plus travel time (one-time annually) Record keeping and financial book upkeep: 30 minutes Collecting and processing payments: 30 minutes 


Budgeting Assists President in creating an annual operating budget and makes it accessible to members 


Conducts Audits Audits income/expenses and cash-flow on a monthly basis to ensure chapter's sound financial status Reports the results of financial audits to the board in a timely manner 


Compliance Ensures compliance with financial-related CARE requirements Ensures chapter is in compliance with state and federal reporting requirements 


Finance Oversees financials for the chapter Reconciles chapter bank accounts on a regular basis Oversees the accuracy of record-keeping and reporting Issues payment for invoices in a timely manner 


Maintains chapter tax-exempt non-profit status Maintains financial records electronically and in hard copy, as applicable 

Board Participation Reports all income and expenses to the board on a regular basis Reports on financial status of chapter each month at board meetings Attends and participates in all monthly board meetings Provides support to other chapter committee chairs and officers for financial transactions, as applicable Participates in other chapter events, committee meetings, and conferences as available Represents chapter professionally and ethically in all business functions/organizational activities







Secretary

Position Summary

  • Document activities and assignments that occur during chapter board meetings and post a summary to the google drive for other board members and interested chapter members to review each month.

  • Assist with various administrative tasks as needed such as contacting resources and vendors as needed (such as requesting an insurance quote)

  • Attend monthly NAC meetings monthly

  • Participate in executive committee activities as needed


Time Commitment each month with tasks to accomplish

Term: 2 years

Estimated time per month:

  • Attend board meetings 90 minutes (plus travel when needed)

  • Documenting meeting minutes & posting to google drive (90 minutes)

  • Various other tasks as requested / attending chapter activities (60-120 minutes)


The following positions are appointed by the Chapter President

IT Director

Position Summary: 

The IT Director is a member of the board and provides technical support to the chapter. He/She sets up new users within the shared Google Drive, manages website changes, and coordinates technical platforms including, but not limited to, G Suite, the VT Chapter’s website, and the VT Chapter’s membership software.


Time Commitment: 


Term: Two years 

Estimated Time Requirements per month:

  • Attending board meetings: 2 hours plus travel time 

  • Attending chapter meetings / SIGs (recommended, not required) 

  • Communicating with chapter leaders about routine issues: 1-2 hours 

Responsibilities: 


Chapter Support

  • Maintain and update the Chapter’s digital presence as needed

  • Connecting with third party support representatives as needed

  • Updating membership and website software as requested by other board members

  • Recruits and trains incoming IT Director, providing the incoming officer with digital access to chapter files and platforms


Board Participation

  • Communicate digital changes to other Chapter board members

  • Distribute project status reports as appropriate

  • Creates and maintains Google Drive digital documentation 

  • In collaboration with the president, sets annual goals for managing digital channels

  • Represents the chapter professionally and ethically in all business functions/organizational activities

  • Attends and participates in all board meetings. Participates in other chapter events, committee meetings, and regional conferences as available

Social Media Champion Volunteer (reporting into Membership VP)

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Manages Vermont ATD  social media accounts and posts content.

  • Brainstorms campaign ideas.

  • Monitor various social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

  • Analyzes analytics to gauge the success of campaigns.

  • Understands the overall concept of Vermont ATD, including the brand, members, organization goals.

  • Engages with members and/or potential members and works alongside VP of membership and other board members.

  • Provide suggestions to management for improving member experience on social platforms.

  • Learns and becomes proficient on Wild Apricot our CRM.

Time investment: Approximately 6 hours a month

Quarterly Newsletter Creator Volunteer (reporting into the President)

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Gathers, edits and creates content for the Vermont ATD  Quarterly Newsletter

  • Brainstorms ideas with board functional leads for content

  • Analyzes analytics to gauge content usage and appeal

  • Provide suggestions to management for improving member experience.

  • Learns and becomes proficient on Wild Apricot our CRM.

Time investment:  Approximately 6-8 hours a quarter

Newsletter Skills:

  • Writing and editing for online articles

  • Verbal communication 

  • Organization

  • Professionalism 

  • Member focus

    Governance Documentation Organizer (reporting into the President)

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    • Organizes the Vermont ATD  governance document required by ATD

    • Annually evaluates documents for currency, and identifies items requiring updates

    • Leads the effort on updates.

    • Provide suggestions to management for improving governance documents

    • Learns and becomes proficient on Google Docs / G-suite

    Time investment:  Approximately 4 hours a month
