Brian Holmes

Director of Marketing (2019 - Present)
What is your “Real” job position?
I am a corporate trainer at Dealer.com. As a Trainer at Dealer.com I am responsible for the delivery of learning and development solutions that maximize the effectiveness of Dealer.com professionals, drive revenue optimization and increase the skill sets of Team Members within their assigned team.

How many years have you worked in the learning/development realm? I am actually very new to the learning/development realm. I just started in June of 2019 but I am very excited to have made the transition from my previous job, which was more project management focused.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone just entering this line of work?
"Embarrassment is the cost of entry. If you aren't willing to look like a foolish beginner, you'll never become a graceful master."

What’s a favorite quote that gives you inspiration and keeps you going?
“You believed in Santa for 8 years, you can believe in yourself for 10 seconds” – This is a reminder to myself if I ever doubt my ability to start or finish something. You can do anything for 10 seconds, then you just start on a new 10 seconds. All you’ve got to do is take it 10 seconds at a time.

How did you get involved with VT Chapter ATD?
I was also fortunate enough to have a colleague at Dealer.com who was already part of the board who introduced me to ATD. I figured the best way to immerse myself and network in my new career was to join the local ATD chapter.

Where can we find you when you’re not working?
When I am not working you can usually find me at home with my wife (we just got married 9/28/19!) my dog Rocky and cat Cleo. If it’s a Thursday night during the winter you can usually find me at BCC playing cribbage.
